Biography

A family and community-oriented conservative, Ian has lived in the Westshore for 10+ years. He has an unrivalled understanding of the ESS riding, having rented and then owned homes in Esquimalt, View Royal and  Colwood. He topped the polls in the 2022 Colwood Municipal Election, on a platform of transparency, good governance and fiscal responsibility.  

In addition to his Council role, Ian also holds the following responsibilities:

  • Capital Regional District (CRD) - Alternate Board Member

  • CRD Hospital Board - Alternate Board Member

  • CRD Housing Corporation - Alternate Board Member

  • Greater Victoria Public Library Board (GVPL) - Board Member

  • GVPL Policy & Planning Committee - Member

  • Land Use & Planning Committee (City of Colwood) - Chair

  • Westshore Chamber of Commerce, Alt. Representative

  • Hear The World Alumni Member

  • Member, Israel fact-finding team, 2024

  • Alumni, Rotary Group Study Exchange - Australia


The grandson and son of veterans, Ian started in the workforce working labour jobs in a sawmill, truss plant, & forestry, before returning to school locally at RRU (post-graduate) and at both North Island College and UBC Sauder School of Business. Ian has spent 20+ years in management roles in the private sector & currently is a senior executive (VP Business Development) for Canada's most award-wining private practice hearing healthcare provider. Ian is married, with two teenaged boys. A sports enthusiast, Ian formerly played local "old boys" rugby with the Edd Tide (based at Esquimalt's Bullen Park) and Vic West soccer, and enjoys racquet sports, backcountry hiking, and team sports.
